The Los Angeles Angels had hoped that Tommy Hanson would solve some of their rotation questions. Instead they got a very inconsistent pitcher who holds a 5.59 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP over 13 starts.
On Monday the Angels sent the 26-year-old right hander to Triple-A Salt Lake.
The Angels will activate Jason Vargas for Tuesday’s game which will bump Hanson from the rotation. Clearly the Angels see no value in keeping Hanson in the bullpen and have made the easy decision to send him down.
Vargas returns to a 3.65 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP in 14 starts this season.
