Gerald Laird will return to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. Laird had been on the disabled list after he had a kidney stone removed.
The Braves will welcome the return of their backup catcher who has a .293/.384/.400 line this season in 28 games.
In order to make room for Laird on the active roster the Braves sent outfielder Todd Cunningham to Triple-A Gwinnett. Cunningham collected two hits in his six at-bats during his stay on the major league roster.
The Braves may also be getting closer to the return of Reed Johnson to their bench. Johnson has yet to be cleared but says his left Achillies is feeling better.
