The Los Angeles Angels placed Albert Pujols on the disabled list on Sunday. Pujols has a partial tear of the left plantar fascia.
Pujols, 33, has been nursing the injury all season but with the Angels clearly out of the playoff hunt he will now take some time off. There is no time table for how long Pujols will be out of the Angels lineup.
With the Angels out of the playoff hunt and Pujols needing surgery many have speculated that the slugger could miss the rest of the season. The Angels have not released a statement yet.
Prior to landing on the DL, Pujols was hitting .258/.330/.437 with 17 home runs and 64 RBI.
