The Chicago Cubs are fielding offers for starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija.
While the Cubs may be willing to listen to offers for the 28-year-old right hander there is no guarantee that the former Notre Dame tight end will be traded.
Samardzija has a 3.94 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP through 21 starts this season. His current contract includes the 2014 season.
The Cubs had not been known to be listening to offers for Samardzija but the small market may have helped change their mind. Currently the top available pitchers are Jake Peavy, Bud Norris and Ervin Santana.
