The Boston Red Sox are sending a scout to watch White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy on Thursday when he pitches against the Detroit Tigers.
Peter Gammons of MLB.com reports that the Red Sox also had a scout in attendance when he made his return from a rib fracture on Saturday.
The veteran right-hander might be the best starting pitcher available leading up to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. The 32-year-old is under contract of $14.5 million next season while his contract includes a conditional $15 million player option for 2015.
