The Baltimore Orioles have added Francisco Rodriguez to their bullpen. On Tuesday the Orioles added the veteran reliever in exchange for Nick Delmonico.
Rodriguez will move into a setup role in Baltimore ahead of closer Jim Johnson.
The Brewers had moved Rodriguez to the closers role and he holds a 1.09 ERA and 26/9 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings this season. With his departure the Brewers will return that role to Jim Henderson who lost the job largely due an earlier injury.
Signed to a minor league deal earlier this year, Rodriguez will become a free agent at the end of the season.
In exchange for picking up Rodriguez the Orioles gave up Nick Delmonico. The 21-year-old has played across the infield in his brief minor league career and had produced 13 home runs and a .244/.351/.471 line at High-A.
