The Atlanta Braves will get some relief for their patchwork outfield on Monday when Jason Heyward returns to the team. Heyward, 23, has missed the last six games with a right hamstring strain.
Heyward was able to avoid the disabled list thanks in part to the All-Star break.
On the season Heyward is hitting just .227/.324/.371 with 7 home runs batting line over 289 plate appearances.
The return of Heyward will help the Braves outfield by allowing Evan Gattis to rotate between catcher and outfield something that may be necessary with backup catcher Gerald Laird suffering a contusion on his left hand Sunday.
