Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann has been added to the roster of the National League for the All-Star Game. On Sunday manager Bruce Bochy added McCann to the roster in place of his Atlanta teammate Freddie Freeman.
This is the seventh career All-Star selection for McCann, who entered Sunday hitting .291 with 12 home runs and a .910 OPS.
Freeman will travel to New York for All-Star festivities but will not play in the All-Star game. On Thursday he was announced as the NL Final Vote winner after receving a record number of votes. On Saturday he jammed his thumb in the Braves win over Cincinnati.
