The Chicago Cubs designated Carlos Marmol for assignment on June 25 giving the team ten days to trade their one time closer.

With nearly $5 million owed to Marmol for the remainder of this season the Cubs have every reason to simply give away Marmol. Surprisingly there is one team interested in Marmol, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Gordon Wittenmeyer reports that the Dodgers will provide the Cubs with $245,000 of the remaining salary owned to Marmol.

The 30-year-old Marmol went 2-4 with a 5.86 ERA in 31 relief appearances this season.
