Paul Konerko will not return to the lineup for the Chicago White Sox until at least Sunday. Tightness in the back of the 37-year-old first basemen has kept him out of action since last Sunday.

On Thursday Konerko received six injections and had an MRI done on his back. Konerko passed along via CSN Chicago that he would not attempt to play until Sunday.

Thus far the White Sox have not made public what was discovered during the MRI.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura has regularly played Konerko at DH this season. Of the 66 games that Konerko has appeared in only 34 have come at first.

Prior to missing time this week Konerko had been on a seven game hitting streak which pulled his average up to .253 on the season to go along with seven home runs and 30 RBI.

If the White Sox do opt to place Konerko on the DL they will do it retroactively meaning Konerko would be eligible to return on July 9.
