The New York Mets have acquired Eric Young in a trade with the Colorado Rockies. Young was sent to the Mets in exchange for pitcher Collin McHugh.

While with the Rockies the speedy Young hit just .242/.290/.352 over 57 games.

In order to make room for Young on the roster the Mets designated outfielder Colin Cowgill for assignment. The Mets figure to offer Young regular playing time.
