Tampa Bay Rays right-handed pitcher Alex Cobb was hit in the head by a line drive on Saturday afternoon. Royals batter, Eric Hosmer sent a ball right back up the middle and Cobb could not get out of the way.

Cobb laid face down on the mound nearly completely motionless, aside from some movement in his feet and had to be removed by stretcher. He was transferred to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, FL in unknown condition. Sun Sports data showed the ball traveled at 102.4 MPH after leaving Hosmer’s bat.

The Rays released a statement saying Cobb was conscious all the way to the hospital.

Update: Cobb has been diagnosed with a mild concussion.
