Beckett considering season-ending surgery, Elbert out for year

Josh Beckett has not pitched since May 13 and there does not appear to be a timetable for his return to the mound.

Beckett has been dealing with a nerve issue in his pitching arm. The Dodgers will rest the right-hander for four weeks before he attempts another throwing session.

With no guarantee that rest will fix the issue Beckett has already said he would have season ending surgery to correct the issue. Beckett believes he would be ready for the start of next season.

Scott Elbert to have Tommy John surgery

Dodgers reliever Scott Elbert will undergo Tommy John surgery on his left elbow. The reliever had not appeared in a game this season and the Dodgers are not confident that he will be ready to go next season.

Elbert had been an integral part of the Dodgers bullpen the last two seasons appearing in 90 games and compiling a 2.32 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP during that span.
