Evan Gattis named NL Rookie of the Month for May

Evan Gattis hit just about anything he wanted to in May. For that the Braves catcher/outfielder was named National League Rookie of the Month for May.

When the Braves activated Brian McCann from the disabled list the team wanted to keep Gattis in the lineup. The solution was finding the 26-year-old additional at-bats in the outfield and at first base.

Gattis or “El Oso Blanco” put a hurt on pitchers in May with a .317/.362/.683 line, six home runs and 16 RBI.

Rangers pitcher Justin Grimm was named American League rookie of the month. Grimm made six starts and had a 5.05 ERA and won his last three starts in the month.
