Orioles catcher Matt Wieters hit a three-run home run last June that landed on Eutaw Street, just in front of the warehouse that is one of Camden Yards’ defining features. The feat has been done 68 times in the 21-year history of Camden Yards.

To celebrate the home run the Orioles place a plaque on the sidewalk listing the players name, team and distance of the shot. On Wieters’ plaque the team spelled his name wrong.

Wieters saw the mistake Sunday and rushed to inform the team’s coordinator of baseball information. The plaque reads “Matt Weiters” as someone forgot the whole i before e rule.

“I can’t believe that,” Wieters said.

No worries, though. Baltimore said it plans to correct the error.

Hard to believe that the Orioles spelled Wieters name wrong after he has been selected to the last two All-Star teams. This season Wieters is hitting .237 with seven home runs and 32 RBI.
