The Arizona Diamondbacks will be without third basemen Eric Chavez for a few weeks after he was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Chavez is dealing with a right oblique strain.
Chavez suffered the injury during Thursday’s game against the Rangers.
To fill the roster spot of Chavez the Diamondbacks activated Willie Bloomquist. Bloomquist was to miss 2-4 weeks with a strained oblique but ended up missing the first two months of the season.
Chavez will be missed as the 35-year-old had compiled a .325/.368/.588 line with seven home runs and 25 RBI.
