Yankees: Andy Pettitte to start Monday against Indians

Andy Pettitte has been sidelined since May 16 with a strained trapezius but the left hander is set to return to the Yankees on Monday. Pettitte will come off the disabled list and pitch against the Indians in the opener of a there game series.

Pettitte threw a 75-pitch simulated game earlier this week and reported no issues.

On the season Pettitte has a 3.83 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP over eight starts.

Hideki Matsui retruns to the Bronx

The Yankees also announced on Thursday that longtime outfielder/designated hitter Hideki Matsui to a minor league deal on July 28. At that time Matsui will be honored prior to the Yankees game against the Rays.

In ten big league season Matsui finishes with a .282/.360/.462 career line to go along with 175 home runs. He was the MVP of the 2009 World Series.

The first 18,000 fans on July 28 will receive a Matsui bobblehead portraying him with his 2009 World Series Most Valuable Player Award trophy.
