Catchers gear has long been called the tools of ignorance but here is hoping that one MLB Umpire wore a little extra equipment on Wednesday night.
Umpire Alan Porter received a foul ball to the groin during the Tampa Bay Rays game against the Miami Marlins.
In the fourth inning Evan Longoria fouled off a ball from Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler. The ball skipped off the dirt and went straight for Porter’s crotch.
