The Atlanta Braves have called up left handed pitcher Alex Wood. While Wood has been serving as a dominating starting pitcher at Double-A, he will move to the bullpen at the major league level.
Wood has a 1.26 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and a 57/15 K/BB ratio though 10 starts for the Mississippi Braves.
Baseball America ranked Wood as the Braves seventh best prospect. He was selected in the second round of last years MLB Draft.
In order to make room for Wood on the active roster the Braves designated Juan Francisco for assignment. Francisco was part of a platoon at third base but was hitting just .241/.287/.398 with five home runs in 35 games for the Braves.
