Jeff Samardzija tossed his first career shutout on Monday night against the Chicago White Sox. Samardzija allowed just two singles to the White Sox while recording eight strike outs.
It was another strong outing for Samardzija who owns a 2.85 ERA over his first 11 starts this season.
Monday’s outing was the second complete game for Samardzija who went the distance in his final outing of last season while allowing three runs – two earned – against Pittsburgh.
The Cubs got out to a 1-0 lead in the first and cruised to a 7-0 win. Crosstown foes, the Cubs and White Sox have two games left in their series, both of which start at 1:20 pm CT.
