Third basmen David Freese needed stitches on his right thumb following Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Freese suffered a cut from the cleats of Norichika Aoki during a run down in the first inning. He was able to stay in the game and ended the day with two hits.

The Cardinals expect Freese to be fine going forward according to the St. Louis Dispatch. This season Freese is hitting just .223/.292/.282 with a home run and nine RBI in 30 games.

It was a big series against the Breweres for Freese as he hit a grand slam in Friday’s win and played catch with WWE stars The Bella Twins.
