The New York Yankees have been riddled with injuries since the start of the season but slowly players are returning to the field. Curtis Granderson returned to the lineup recently and Mark Teixeira should be back with the team shortly.
Teixeira told MLB.com writer Brian Hoch that he expects to be back with the team by June 1.
Previously Teixeira has set a return goal of May 1 as he worked his way back from a wrist injury but things had not progressed as the first basemen had hoped.
If Teixeira plans to be back with the Yankees by the start of June then a rehab assignment should probably begin in the next week.
Teixeira appeared in 124 games last season compiling a .251/.332/.475 line with 24 home runs and 84 RBI.
