With John Lackey out of the lineup with a strained biceps the Boston Red Sox will start Alfredo Aceves on Thursday against Baltimore. Boston is still debating whether or not to place Lackey on the disabled list.

Originally Felix Doubront was to start the Thursday game against the Orioles but his start has been pushed back.

In two appearances this year Aceves has a 10.38 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP. While he wanted to be considered for the rotation this spring his last start in a regular season game came in 2011.

The Red Sox also optioned shortstop Jose Iglesias to Triple-A and activated Stephen Drew from the seven-day disabled list. Drew had been suffering from concussion sympthoms since being hit in the helmet with a ball on March 7. In Drew’s final rehab game he hit a home run and drove in three runs.
