The Houston Astros placed left handed pitcher Travis Blackley on the disabled list on Saturday. Blackley was acquired from the Oakland Athletics on Thursday.
Blackley has a left shoulder strain. It is unclear when the injury occurred or how long the 30-year-old will be out of action.
Houston had planned to start Blackley in the bullpen. Last season he split time between San Francisco and Oakland finishing the year with a 3.86 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP over 18 appearances.
The Astros recalled Dallas Keuchel from Triple-A to replace Blackley on the active roster.
