Cubs shut down Scott Baker after elbow strain

There has been soreness all spring between Barker and his elbow but until now their was not a high level of concern. The Cubs plan to shut Baker down for a month and then re-evaluate him.

The deal between Baker and the Cubs is worth $5.5 million for the 2013 season.

In seven seasons with Minnesota, Baker has a lifetime 63-48 record and a 4.15 ERA.
