Zack Greinke’s elbow places season debut in jeopardy

Zack Greinke signed a large deal to join the Los Angeles Dodgers but money does not necessarily go hand and hand with health. The right handed pitcher is in danger of missing his first scheduled start in jeopardy.

Greinke is tentatively scheduled to start April 2.

Dodger manager Don Mattingly is starting to get concerned about his high dollar pitcher. On Friday though there were some positive signs as Greinke was able to play catch. He is expected to repeat this routine in the coming days before throwing a bullpen session and then making a spring start.

With little time between now and the start of the season the Dodgers may play it safe and start Greinke on the disabled list. They do not need a fifth starter until April 15.

Considering the money and expectations the Dodgers would appear better off being cautious with Greinke.

UPDATE: Greinke played catch again on Saturday and will attempt a bullpen session on Sunday.
