The Yankees will welcome their captain back to the field on Wednesday as Derek Jeter is set to play his first spring game at short stop.
Jeter’s return comes at a time when many other prominent Yankees have been forced to the disabled list.
Jeter confirms that he’ll play SS tomorrow night for the first time this spring: “I’ll be out there.”

The Yankees made the decision official on Tuesday after seeing how Jeter’s ankle felt. Jeter is slated to play four or five innings as he returns to the team.
If all goes well he should be able to take the field in the Yankees season opener against Boston on April 1.
