Brewers sticking with Alex Gonzalez at first

The Milwaukee Brewers will likely open the season with Alex Gonzalez as their everyday first basemen.

Gonzalez has appeared in 1,903 major league games, yet none of them have come at first. The 36-year-old was signed to a one-year deal with the Brewers over the winter with the team planning to use him as a utility infielder.

With Corey Hart out until May with a knee injury the Brewers are left with few options at first.

The idea that Gonzalez will be an impact bat at the position is laughable. To go along with a few flashes of power the bat of Gonzalez has produced .244/.292/.399 line over a 14-year big league career.
