Cubs continue to seek trade of Carlos Marmol

It is unlikely that Carlos Marmol will be on a team other then the Cubs when Opening Day comes around but the team still wants to trade their closer.

Marmol, 30, is in the final year of his contract and set to make $9.8 million.

The Cubs told Marmols agent to expect a trade. This is not news as the team was willing to move Marmol all of last season but never found any takers.

He had 20 saves in 23 chances with a 3.42 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 72 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings last season. Control has always been an issue, as Marmol walked 45 guys, giving him a horrible rate of 7.3 per nine innings.
