The Los Angeles Angels have traded first basemen Kendrys Morales to the Seattle Mariners in return for starting pitcher Jason Vargas, according to a report on Twitter by Angels beat writer Alden Gonzalez.

Morales has spent the last six seasons with the Angels. He was sidelined in 2010 with an ankle injury that required surgery and made him miss the remaining 2010 season and the complete 2011 season as well. Morales would not of gotten much playing time in LA with Albert Pujols at first base and Mark Trumbo set to be their designated hitter.

In 2012 he appeared in 132 games and batted .273 with 22 home runs. He is a .292/.346/.558 career hitter at Safeco Field.

Vargas went 14-11 with a .385 ERA with the Mariners in 2012. In his seven major league seasons he is 42-50 with a .435 ERA.
