The woman in photos believed to have been of the late girlfriend of Manti Te’o has been identified. The New York Post has identified 23-year-old Diane O’Meara of Torrance, CA, as the woman in the fake Manti Te’o girlfriend photos.
The headline seems a little late considering we have known for two days that the girl in the photo did not die but credit the paper for posting the identify, even if they failed to get any comment from O’Meara.
“Somebody stole her identity,” a relative, Olga Volkov, told The Post. “[O’Meara’s family] found out about it yesterday. They were shocked.”
O’Meara is said to be a former high school classmate of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, who either duped or worked with Manti Te’o to create the hoax of a dead girlfriend.
This is just the latest news in one really confusing story. Thus far no one involved in the hoax has spoken to the public which has only complicated matters.
