Cole Hamels out three weeks with shoulder issue

While the rest of the pitchers of the Atlanta Braves are reporting to sore omg training, Cole Hamels is in Dallas visiting a doctor.

Hamels, 36, is dealing with some shoulder discomfort after irritating it during offseason workouts. According to Grant Burns of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Hamels will be re-evaluated in three weeks.

It is too early to speculate on his status for Opening Day though the time table suggests he may miss a few starts in the early part of the season.

Hamels signed a one-year contact with the Braves worth $18 million in early December.

Last season Hamels made 27 starts pitching 141.1 innings going 7-7 with a 3.81 ERA for the Chicago Cubs.
