Matt Carpenter is hot right now. Like salsa hot. While his recent streak of homering in six straight games (8 overall homers) was snapped on Sunday, Carpter has seen his OPS rise from a respectable .866 on July 1st to a sultry .975 following a weekend series against the Cubs.
Carpenter was asked what the secret to his streak was following a 6-3 Cardinals win in the second game of a series against the Cubs, he replied “Maybe it’s the salsa? I don’t know. But I’m going to keep eating it for sure.”
That has everyone wondering, exactly what is in that salsa? And would consuming it have prevented Tim Tebow from suffering a broken hand?
MLB tweeted out a gif of Carpenter and Marcell Ozuna on Sunday….

“Now it’s becoming a thing,” Carpenter said via MLB. “I’m going to keep eating it until it stops happening.”
Given Great American Ballpark’s history of long balls, Reds fans may just want to be prepared now.
