Justin Upton’s two month stay in LA will continue.
The Angels and the 30-year-old outfielder have reached an agreement on a five-year deal worth $106 million. The deal replaces Upton’s existing contact which he could have opted out of after Saturday night. The average annual value of the contract is $21.2 million.
Upton’s old deal which was signed by the Tigers had four years and 88.5 million left on it and included an opt-out clause ($22.125 million aav). The All-Star posted a career-best .901 OPS with 35 home runs and 109 RBI this season.
According to Bill Shaiklin the new deal simply added a fifth year on Upton’s deal at $17.5 million. He will be 35 at the end of the contract.

By resigning Upton, the Angels have given their lineup a big boost as they try to find players to compliment Mike Trout.
