Max Scherzer pitched the second no-hitter in as many seasons for the Washington Nationals and was just a hit batter away from a perfect game.
Scherzer hit Jose Tabata with two outs in the ninth inning to lose his bid of a perfect game. He then induced a flyout of Josh Harrison to record the no-hitter.
Over his last two outings Scherzer has gone 18 innings allowing just one hit and clearly is baseball’s hottest pitcher at the moment.
On the season Scherzer has a 1.76 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 123/14 K/BB ratio in his first 102 1/3 innings with the Nationals.
