Brandon Beachy may wait until mid-February to sign with a team.
Beachy was said to be close to a deal with an undisclosed team a week ago but things must have went sour. Now Beachy is still on the market.
The agent for Beachy, Robert Martin released a statement about his client’s decision to wait.
“Brandon has decided not to sign a contract at this time. With each day his arm is getting stronger and he’s feeling even more confident about his progress. Thus, he is going to continue with his throwing program and make a decision closer to spring training.”
The 28-year-old right hander was non-tendered by the Braves after missing the entire 2014 season due to Tommy John surgery.
In parts of four seasons Beachy has been limited to just 46 starts t the big league level. He is 14-11 with a 3.24 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP during that time.
