Jason Heyward will continue to wear the No. 22 when he takes the field for the Cardinals in 2015.
After wearing the number for his full tenure with the Braves, Heyward was traded along with reliever Jordan Walden to the Cardinals.
Saturday Heyward announced via twitter that he would continue to wear the number which had been worn by Cardinals manager Mike Matheny.
Would like to genuinely thank the @Cardinals Organization and my Manager Mike Matheny! For allowing me to carry on wearing the #22 (1/2)

Heyward has worn the No. 22 to honor his former friend Andy Wilmot who died in an auto accident.
Matheny will now wear the No. 44 which had been worn by Carlos Martinez. In turn Martinez will now wear No. 18 in honor of Oscar Taveras.
