New York Yankees catcher Brian McCann had x-rays taken on his right index finger on Monday. As McCann suspected following Sunday night’s game they came back negative.

McCann had a ball hit his finger after it previously hit Boston Red Sox batter A.J. Pierzynski. After being hit by the ball, McCann was able to stay in the game.

All signs point to him being in the Yankees lineup for the start of their series against the Chicago Cubs.

Things did not go as well for backup Francisco Cervelli. An MRI given to him on Sunday revealed a Grade 2 hamstring strain. The Yankees will place him on the disabled list.

Cervelli was injured running out a ground ball. It has been a rough go of it for Cervelli the last two seasons. He fracured his right hand last season and also served a 50-game drug suspension. Austin Romine is expected to be recalled to take his roster spot.
