Minnesota Twins prospect Miguel Sano will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.
Sano will miss the entire 2014 season as a result of the surgeyr. He began to have trouble with his elbow after he strained his UCL in winter ball.
The Twins had hoped to avoid surgery with rest and rehab but thing did not go that way.

Sano,20, spent last season split between Single-A and Doubule-A. Combined between the two levels he hit .280/.382/.610 with 35 home runs and 103 RBI.
It’s a tough break for the player ranked as the No. 9 prospect by Baseball American in 2013. MLB.com ranked him at No. 12.
