On Sunday Jonny Venter will throw from a mound for the first time since under going his second Tommy John surgery.

The Atlanta Braves’ left handed relief pitcher is not expected back at the big league level until late May.

If Venters is able to return to form it would be a big plus for the Braves bullpen. In 230 big league games Venters owns 258 strikeouts, 2.23 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP.

“I couldn’t ask for my arm to feel any better, really, than it does,” Venter said, via the Atlanta Journal Consitution. “Considering I’ve had two Tommy Johns. It’s feeling good, and the ball’s coming out real good…. I think it’s going to be fine, I really do. I don’t see it being any different as the first surgery (because of the long period between). I’m just a little older and not as immature as I was the first time.”
