Matt Joyce will enter Tampa Bay Rays camp with roughly 20 pounds of added muscle.
Joyce, 29, is hoping that the increased weight will lead to an increase in power numbers and allow him to be stronger during the season reports the Tampa Bay Times.
Last season Joyce hit 14 home runs by mid-June but just four after. Currently he’s expected to be the everyday DH for the Rays. The Rays will be wanting Joyce to improve on the .235/.328/.419 line from a year ago. Joyce’s career high is 19 home runs set in 2011.
