The New York Yankees have signed outfielder Carlos Beltran to a three-year deal.
Beltran, 36, will earn $45 million over the course of the contract as the Yankees have found a way to replace the bat of Robinson Cano in their lineup.

Beltran, Jacoby Ellsbury, Alfonso Soriano, Brett Gardner and Ichiro Suzuki will form a crowded outfield which should also occupy the DH spot for much of the season.
The Yankees did not re-sign Robinson Cano but the additions of Beltran, Ellsbury and Brian McCann should insure that they are competitive in the AL East this season.
