The Max Scherzer trade rumors are getting hotter, even as the Tigers prepare for Game 5 of their ALDS series against the Athletics.
Danny Knobler is the latest to report that the Tigers could trade the right-handed Scherzer during the offseason.
Scherzer is the favorite to win the American League Cy Young award but his future with the Tigers is unclear. The 29-year-old Scherzer will command a large contract which could be above what the Tigers can afford.
At 21-3 with a 2.90 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP there should be plenty of teams interested in Scherzer. A trade this season could create a larger pool of teams to trade Scherzer too but nothing is certain at this point as the Tigers will try to contend again in 2014.
