Brett Myers has not pitched for the Cleveland Indians sine April 19. He will not pitch for them again this season as the team cut ties with the 33-year-old right hander on Thursday.
Myers struck out two batters in a rehab assignment on Monday but the Indians have opted to release him rather then place him on their roster. Myers was activated from the 60-day disabled list and then released.
Signed to a $7 million deal in the off-season, Myers pitched in only four games for the Indians this season going 0-3 with a 8.02 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP.
Myers split the 2012 season as a reliever between the Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox.
