Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Tim Hudson will miss the remainder of the 2013 season after suffering an injury in Wednesday’s win over the New York Mets.
Hudson, 38, will undergo season-ending surgery for a fractured right ankle.
The injury occurred when Mets outfielder Eric Young landed on Hudson’s foot on a play at first base.
Once the swelling goes down surgery will be performed on Hudson’s ankle. Set to be a free agent at the end of the season this could be the last time Hudson pitches for the Braves. The Braves figure to plug Brandon Beachy into the rotation when Hudson’s turn comes up again.
Prior to the injury Hudson had made 21 starts and had a 8-7 record to go with a 3.97 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP.
