Indians to activate Jason Giambi on Tuesday

The Cleveland Indians will activate first basemen/designated hitter Jason Giambi on Tuesday. Tuesday is the first day the Indians can activate the 42-year-old.

Giambi has played in the majors dating back to 1995 and is hoping to squeeze one more season out of his body.

When activated manager Terry Francona plans to get Giambi some action quickly.

“I don’t want him to sit a week after he gets activated. I want to get him in there just like I want to get everybody in there.” Franona told the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Sitting at 429 home runs and 1405 RBI it is doubtful that the left handed batter adds much to those stats with his role in Cleveland still his veteran presence will be useful on a team which is trying to reinvent itself in the AL Central.
