Braves have edge for B.J. Upton, Phillies and mystery team interested

With a need for two outfielders the Atlanta Braves have been making a strong push to sign B.J. Upton. Upton has spent 8 years at the major league level, all with Tampa Bay. The Philadelphia Phillies and a mystery team are said to be aggressively trying to sign the 28 year old.

The Washington Nationals. San Francisco Giants and Texas Rangers all previously had interest in signing Upton. Both Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times and Jim Bowden have reported that Upton will make a decision on where to play in the upcoming week.

Upton finished the 2012 season with a .246/.298/.454 batting line. He hit 28 home runs and stole 31 bases.
