Denny Hamlin will start on the pole in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series finale.
Hamlin’s speed of 133.759 bested fellow championship hopefuls William Byron and Kyle Larson who will start second and third. Chase Briscoe, the fourth championship hopeful, will start the championship race from 12th.
A pair of Penske Racing teammates, Austin Cindric and Ryan Blaney are the first non-championship drivers in the field and will start fourth and fifth.
This marks the last year that the 1-mile Phoenix Raceway and it’s dogleg oval will be the championship finale after taking over from Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2020. Homestead-Miami Speedway will see the championship race return to it next season after having hosting the event from 2002 through 2019.
