Former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is in stable condition after being stabbed early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis.
Sanchez, 38, was in the city to cover Sunday’s Colts–Raiders game for Fox Sports.
“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” Fox Sports PR said in a statement posted on X. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts are with Mark and his family, and we ask that their privacy be respected during this time.”
According to TMZ, police responded to a call around 12:30 a.m. regarding two injured individuals, one of whom was Sanchez. He was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
Sanchez, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, spent four seasons with the Jets, earning the nickname “The Sanchize” after leading the team to back-to-back AFC Championship appearances in his first two seasons. He later played for the Eagles, Cowboys, and Washington before transitioning into a broadcasting career.
