Kyle Kirkwood led the first all-American podium since 2020 as he was joined by Santino Ferrucci and Colton Herta on the podium.
Colton Herta began the day on the pole as his front row counterpart David Malukas fell back immediately as Kyle Kirkwood moved into the second position. Points leader and Indy 500 winner Alex Palou began the day fifth. Rinus VeeKay started sixth but found himself on pit road early.

Scott McLaughlin would make his pit stop but upon returning to the track clipped Nolan Siegel. A caution followed for a spin by Devlin DeFrancesco would bring out a full course yellow while McLaughlin was forced to serve a stop and go.
Drivers on the stop stop strategy remained at the front of the field with Christian Rasmussen, Graham Rahal, Louis Foster, Marcus Ericsson and Scott Dixon out front. Once those drivers pitted Kyle Kirkwood was shown out front.
Callum Ilott would crash and bring out a caution on lap 68. Ferrucci, Kyffin Simpson and Marcus Armstrong would stay out to cycle to the front hoping to make it to the finish on their tires and fuel. Behind them Kirkwood, Power, Herta and Palou lined up. On the restart Malukas would get into the back of Palou sending him into the tire barrier ending Palou’s day and earning himself a penalty. With the 25th place finish, Palou failed to podium for the first time this season.

Kirkwood would make contact with Armstrong damaging his wing as he made the move for second. A lap later he would pass Ferucci as Power and Herta both moved past Armstrong. With 17 to go Louis Foster suffered a suspension failure and then made contact with Felix Rosenqvist sending both into barriers and ending their race.

Power would make light contact with the wall setting up an opportunity for Ferrucci and Herta to both move past him. Herta was unable to get past Ferrucci allowing Power to pull back to his rear wing as Kirkwood continued to pull away.
The win is the second of the year for Kirkwood, who is the only driver to win besides Palou so far. The second place finish marks the best finish of Ferrucci’s career.
